Leadership is something that is difficult to measure but most leaders have a few things in common. Leaders tend to validate and encourage others, they shared their knowledge with others, they offer perspective and they ask open ended and clarifying questions. Most people do these things at times but leaders pursue these things because they want to learn as much as possible. In order to be a leader you need to be courageous and allow yourself to be criticized in order to become a better version of yourself. As a leader you are always learning and always trying to better yourself and the people you are leading.
- Leaders tend to validate others, share knowledge, clarify questions and answers and encourage their peers.
- Leadership tends to be measured in four different categories. Validating, sharing, asking & answering, and exploring.
- When we participate in communities, we learn more about the culture of learning habits and overall change of different individuals
“Leadership requires courage – the courage to be different and to expose yourself to critique, which is challenging when many decisions are nuanced and messy.”
